Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Espanyol have to recover from the late equaliser in a tough test against Sevilla in their next LaLiga match on home soil next week. Barca are next in action in the Europa League at Camp Nou on Thursday against Napoli.
Espanyol were in touching distance of their first LaLiga win over Barcelona since the 2006-07 season, only to be denied at the death by a Luuk de Jong equaliser in an ill-tempered affair. Pedri put Barca ahead after 74 seconds, but his effort was cancelled out by Sergi Darder. Darder then released Raul de Tomas to fire the home side ahead. It appeared to be enough even after both sides were reduced to 10 men when Gerard Pique and Nicolas Melamed were dismissed. The game had one final twist when De Jong rose in the box to plant his header past Diego Lopez, while there was time for Miguel Morlanes to earn a red card from the bench.
Manu Morlanes

Goal
90' + 6' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! DE JONG EQUALISES AT THE DEATH!!!!!!! 2-2!!!! Barcelona snatch a leveller in the final minute of stoppage time as De Jong directs a pinpoint header past Lopez. 90' + 4' De Tomas lines up an ambitious strike at goal from 40 yards, but he hammers his effort well wide of the target.
90' + 2' OFF! The red mist descends on Melamed and he goes head to head with Pique and earns his second booking in a matter of seconds. Melamed receives his marching orders. Both teams are down to 10 men.
90' + 2' RED CARD! Pique is sent off for going head to head with Melamed, earning his second booking. Madness from the veteran defender.

90' + 2' Melamed pulls back Pique and goes into the book to pick up a booking.

67' SAVE! Pedri turns into space on the edge of the Espanyol box and fires at goal, but his effort is straight at Lopez.

Raúl de Tomás
Goal
64' GOALLLLL!!! DE TOMAS FIRES ESPANYOL IN FRONT!!!!!!!! 2-1!!!! De Tomas latches on to a ball over the top from Darder and dispatches a clinical strike past Ter Stegen. Darder cuts open the Barcelona defence as Garcia allows De Tomas to drift in behind him. The forward brings the ball down and holds his composure to fire into the bottom-left corner.
63' Aubameyang uses a neat piece of skill to turn away from Vidal, but his cross is cleared away from Pedri by Cabrera.
P. Aubameyang
F. de Jong
62' Aubameyang enters the action in the final third to replace the underwhelming De Jong. It will require a re-shuffle for the visitors.

T. Vilhena
Yellow Card
60' Vilhena catches Busquets with a late challenge and goes into the book. Barca have a free-kick in a useful position.
57' DISALLOWED GOAL! Gavi believes that he has restored Barcelona's advantage as he capitalises on hesitancy between Vidal and Gomez in the box to fire past Lopez. However, the goal is chalked off for offside against De Jong earlier in the move as he deflected a Pedri pass towards the teenager.
54' Puado takes a neat touch in the box and tries to use his second to guide an effort towards goal. However, Dest applies pressure on the forward, enough to allow Ter Stegen to gather ahead of Puado.
53' Gavi takes over the attack for Barca after Espanyol fail to clear their lines, but he sees his drive from 20 yards diverted away from goal by Gomez.
52' Pedri releases Torres with a sublime flick for Torres, but he gets crowded out on the edge of the Espanyol box.
49' De Tomas has been directly involved in 53.6% of Espanyol's goals in LaLiga this season (12 goals and 3 assists - 15/28), the second-highest percentage by a player after Joselu Mato with Alavés (73.7% - 12 and 2 - 14/19).
47' Traore drops his shoulder down the right flank and finds room for a cross into the box that Cabrera steers away from Torres.
46' We're back under way at RCDE Stadium.
Eric García
R. Araújo
46' Araujo is withdrawn at the break for Barca for Garcia. It must be injury related.
Vicente Moreno would have had concerns after trailing early, but his side have shown resilience and produced the quality when required to get back into the game. The Espanyol boss will be urging his team to seize the moment in the second half to punish Barca, who have been wasteful in the final third.
It's all square at the break in the Catalan derby between Espanyol and Barcelona. Pedri handed the visitors the perfect start to the game when he converted from close range after 74 seconds. However, Espanyol showed fight and equalised five minutes before half-time through a stunner from Sergi Darder. The game remains in the balance at the interval.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: ESPANYOL 1-1 BARCELONA

37' SAVE! Traore latches on to a cross from Gavi and brings down the ball to power an effort on the half-volley at goal. However, Lopez puts his body on the line to repel the strike from the winger.
34' Alba appeals for a penalty as his cross strikes Bare in the box, but the referee points only for a corner.
32' Traore surges towards the Espanyol backline and away from a lunge from Bare. Cabrera has to time his challenge to perfection and does to halt the Spain international.

K. Bare

21' De Tomas guides the ball back to Vilhena to strike, but his effort is charged down by Araujo. De Tomas handled the ball anyway in the build-up, but Araujo was not aware.
20' Alba curls a free-kick into the box from the left flank, but De Tomas is fouled by Araujo in the middle and the referee awards a free-kick to the home side.
19' Vidal brings down Gavi with a loose challenge and hands Barca a free-kick in a useful position.
17' Alba has provided more assists than any other Barcelona player in LaLiga this season (5).

9' Darder is pulled back by Busquets and the home side react furiously to the decision. Espanyol believe that the Barca skipper should have been booked.
8' Pedri's goal after 74 seconds is the earliest in the Catalan derby in the 21st century.

Pedri
Goal
2' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! PEDRI HANDS BARCA A PERFECT START!!!!! 1-0!!!! The visitors take the lead with their first attack as Pedri converts at the back post. Alba collects on the left flank and supplies a perfect cross for an unmarked Pedri, who steers his close-range effort past Lopez. A calm finish from the midfielder.
1' We're under way in this LaLiga clash.
Barcelona have now gone 23 games unbeaten in a row against Espanyol in LaLiga (W18 D5) and could record the best unbeaten run by any team in any type of derby in the competition’s history (also 23 games for Real Madrid against Atletico Madrid between 2000 and 2013).
Xavi has made just one change to his side that beat Atletico Madrid in their last outing. Dani Alves was dismissed in the victory and is suspended tonight. Dest comes into the backline to replace the Brazilian. Ansu Fati and Memphis Depay remain sidelined due to injury.
Espanyol have made four changes to their side that lost to Bilbao last time out. Oscar Gil, Morlanes, Molendo and Dimata all drop out of the side, with the final three among the substitutes tonight. Vidal comes into the backline against his former club. Bare and Herrera start in the middle of the park, while De Tomas gets the nod alongside Puado in the final third.
BARCELONA SUBS: Riqui Puig, Ousmane Dembele, Martin Braithwaite, Neto, Nicolas Gonzalez, Luuk de Jong, Oscar Mingueza, Eric Garcia, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Jutgla, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Arnau Tenas.
BARCELONA (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Sergino Dest, Raul Araujo, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba; Frenkie de Jong, Sergi Busquets, Pedri; Adama Traore, Ferran Torres, Gavi.
ESPANYOL SUBS: Miguelon, Fernando Calero, Manuel Morlanes, Wu Lei, Fran Merida, Oscar Melendo, Loren Meron, Didav Vilac, Landry Dimata, Nicolas Melamed, Adrian Embarba, Pere Joan.
ESPANYOL (4-4-2): Diego Lopez; Aleix Vidal, Sergi Gomez, Leandro Cabrera, Adria Pedrosa; Tonny Vilhena, Keidi Bare, Yangel Herrera, Sergi Darder; Javier Puado, Raul de Tomas.
Barcelona have come out of their own sticky patch over the last two weeks by reeling off back-to-back wins in LaLiga. A late goal from Frenkie de Jong secured a narrow win over Alaves before they won 4-2 against Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid. Atletico have since moved back above Xavi's men into fourth place in the table, which will require a response from Barca tonight against their local rivals.
In suffering a 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao last time out, Espanyol extended their winless run in LaLiga to four matches. Vicente Moreno's men are secure in the bottom half of the table, but their recent form will be a concern. They're seven points clear of the relegation zone, so there is no immediate danger, and Moreno will be looking to use the occasion of the derby to fire up his players.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the LaLiga clash between Espanyol and Barcelona at the RCDE Stadium.
