Meanwhile, Southampton will be aiming to build on this impressive result when they welcome newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion to St Mary's Stadium next Sunday.
Ings’ early goal proves the different as Southampton seal a 1-0 win over Burnley to collect their first points of the season. It took just five minutes for Hassenhuttl’s men to take the lead as Adams teed up his strike partner Ings who tapped it home from inside the box against his old club. Burnley had the ball in the net in the second half when Wood capitalised on a defensive error before tucking it home, but his effort was disallowed when he was flagged for offside. Taylor also went close for the hosts with a long-range strike in the second period, while Ings had a goal disallowed for Southampton in the closing stages before his side eventually went on to seal the three points.

Southampton look to launch a quick attack after winning the ball in their own half, but Ward-Prowse misplaces his pass towards Tella and Burnley now have a throw-in on their right wing.
McNeil cuts inside from the left flank before touching it down for Vydra midway into the Southampton half, but the forward then loses possession as his wayward pass towards the right flank drifts out for a throw-in.

Southampton produce another promising passage of play on the left flank as Ings is eventually set free near the left-hand byline, but he fails to pick out the run of Bertrand with his final pass.
Vydra controls the ball on the left-hand side of the box before touching it out to Taylor on the flank, but his looping cross is easily claimed by McCarthy in the middle of the area.
Some neat link-up play from Southampton almost sees Adams sent through on goal, but Djenepo's final pass falls short as he fails to flick the ball towards his teammate.
Brownhill steals the ball in midfield before quickly teeing up Vydra in a pocket of space. The striker bursts towards the edge of the box and then spots McCarthy off his line, but his ambitious chip sails well over the bar.
Burnley win a free-kick just inside the opposition half after Djenepo's late tackle on Bardsley, but the hosts are unable to conjure any meaningful chances as Southampton are quick to clear the threat.

Burnley were certainly punished for their slow start to the match, but Dyche's men definitely looked better as the half developed. Southampton will need to remain wary of Burnley's aerial threat which they looked to exploit through many deliveries into the box, but Hassenhuttl will largely be looking for more of the same from his side with Adams and Ings having linked up particularly well in the first half.
Southampton lead the way at the interval with Ings' early goal proving the difference between the two sides at Turf Moor. It took the visitors just five minutes to open the scoring as a well-crafted move resulted in Adams pulling it back for Ings who tapped home against his former club. Adams also had an opportunity to add a second goal in the early exchanges, while Vydra registered Burnley's best chance when he thrashed his strike over the bar from close range.

Ings attempts to clip an audacious throughball into the path of Adams on the fringe of the box, but Pope emerges from his goal quickly to win the race against the Southampton attacker.
Taylor controls the ball in plenty of space on the left flank before lining up a delivery into the centre, but Bednarek does well to rise above Burnley's forwards and nod it well away from danger.

Dyche has made two changes to the Burnley side that lost to Leicester as Jay Rodriguez and Robbie Brady are replaced by Vydra and Stephens, with the latter making his club debut in midfield. Meanwhile, Southampton have made just one change from the Tottenham defeat with Vestergaard coming in for Stephens at the back.

Burnley are looking for their first league win of the campaign after kicking off the season with a 4-2 defeat to Leicester City last weekend. However, the Turf Moor side sealed a 2-0 win over Millwall in the League Cup on Wednesday which will have given them a confidence boost ahead of their meeting with Ralph Hassenhuttl's men.
