That's all from Villa Park, goodbye!
Southampton move up to third in the Premier League now, level on points with Everton in second who play Newcastle later today. Meanwhile, Aston Villa's back to back losses mean they drop to seventh in the table after six games. Southampton face Newcastle at home next weekend, whislt Villa travel to North London to take on Arsenal.
A late fight-back wasn't enough for the home side to take anything from this game as a spirited performance led by captain Ward-Prowse was enough for Saints to get the three points and make it five games unbeaten. Villa's poor first-half display left them chasing the game and despite a late flurry of goals from Mings, Watkins and Grealish, it wasn't enough to take a point for Dean Smith's side.

45' + 2' HALF-TIME: Aston Villa 0-3 Southampton
45' That is so poor from Cash giving away a free-kick right on the edge of his box. With a player like Ward-Prowse on the opposite team, you cannot be giving away cheap set pieces like that. What a free-kick from the Saints captain.
J. Ward-Prowse
Goal
45' GOALLL! IT'S TWO FOR WARD-PROWSE! WHAT A BIRTHDAY THIS MAN IS HAVING!
M. Cash
