UEFA Champions League
UEFA Champions League Qualifiers
UEFA Europa League

Well, what an end to the game that was! Arsenal looked dead and buried after going 3-0 down, but kudos to Wenger's men for embarking on a truly spectacular comeback. They were helped by Francis' late red card, but even before then the Gunners had showed great grit and determination as they tried, and succeeded, in finding a much-needed point.
H. Arter
Yellow Card
Arter receives a late yellow card for dissent after arguing with the referee.
Arsenal push forward on one last attacking move, but they're unable to do so quickly enough and, just as a long ball is sent up to Giroud, the referee brings an end to what has been a truly spectacular game.
Terrific save by Cech! Adam Smith flies forward on a rare foray deep into the Arsenal half of the pitch as he tries to find a way back in front for his, and he does well to tee up Arter on the right-hand side of the box. The midfielder then darts towards goal before shooting, but his rocket of a strike is brilliantly saved by Cech at the near post.
G. Xhaka
That was a lovely cross from Xhaka to pick out Giroud. The Swiss midfielder really struggled defensively in the first half but has looked far better pushing forward since the break.
O. Giroud
GOAL! Arsenal have done it! The visitors keep putting pressure on the home side as they try to find a late, late equaliser, and they push the Cherries even further back into their own half of the pitch. Xhaka picks up the ball in a pocket of space 25 yards away from goal before curling a lovely cross into the box, where Giroud rises high above Cook before beating Boruc with a wonderful downward header. What a comeback!
B. Smith
C. Wilson
Bournemouth have made a late defensive switch, with Wilson making way for Brad Smith.
The fourth official has indicated that there will be six minutes of added time. The Bournemouth fans don't seem at all happy about that!
Perez darts down the left wing before firing a low cross towards Giroud at the near post, but it's deflected off a Bournemouth defender and out for a corner. The set-piece is whipped into the penalty area and once again heads towards Giroud, but this time Boruc is there to collect the ball at the vital moment.
A. Boruc
Yellow Card
Boruc takes slightly too long taking his goal-kick and is shown a yellow card for time-wasting, much to the annoyance of the home fans.
And now Ramsey goes close! Sanchez cuts inside from the left wing before chipping a cross into the box and over to Ramsey, but the Welshman is unable to make decent contact with the ball and scuffs his close-range volley well wide of its intended target.
The play finally gets underway once again and Perez is presented with a chance to shoot on the edge of the Bournemouth box, but he's quickly put under pressure and ends up sending his deflected shot wide of the goal and out for a corner.
S. Francis
Red Card
RED CARD! Bournemouth are down to 10 men! Francis flies into Ramsey and catches defender from behind with a terrible high challenge, leaving the referee with no choice but to give him his marching orders. Arsenal have been handed a late lifeline!
What a chance for Dan Gosling! The midfielder twists and turns on the edge of the Arsenal penalty area before beating Giroud and shooting, but, somehow, he ends up curling his shot well wide of the near post. He really should have buried that!
S. Mustafi
Yellow Card
Mustafi, who has arguably been Arsenal's weakest defender this evening, is caught out of position in the middle of the pitch and commits a clumsy foul, resulting in him picking up a yellow card.
It's all Arsenal at the moment as they desperately try to push forward in search of a late equaliser, but Bournemouth have plenty of bodies back and, at the moment, are doing just about enough to keep the visitors at bay. But can they hold on?
Sanchez has started to come into the game and is beginning to cause Bournemouth plenty of problems. He pops up in a dangerous position on the left wing once again before spinning and trying to find Monreal, but, despite his best efforts, the Spaniard is unable to keep the ball in play.
O. Giroud
It was a miserable first half for Giroud, but the Frenchman has impressed during the second half and, once again, played a vital role in the goal with a lovely flick over to a team-mate.
Lucas Pérez
GOAL! Arsenal have pulled back another one! Xhaka fires a low pass into the penalty area that finds Giroud, who quickly flicks the ball over his head and over to Perez. The Spaniard is in a great position on the left-hand side of the box and immediately unleashes a wonderful volley, and it's one that leaves Boruc with no chance as it flies into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
Almost a chance for Sanchez! A dangerous lofted pass is fired over the top of the Bournemouth defence and finds Sanchez in the heart of the penalty area, but the Chilean is unable to control the ball without using his hands and gives away a free-kick just as he's about to spin and shoot.
Giroud picks up the ball in a pocket of space in the middle of the pitch, and he quickly darts forward before shooting. He had Perez in a good position to his right, and he arguably should have set up the Spaniard as his shot was easily dealt with by Boruc.
O. Giroud
Arsenal have really struggled to cause Bournemouth problems tonight, but they impressed during that attacking move. Oxlade-Chamberlain has performed relatively well over on the right wing, and he did well to pick out Giroud with his cross.
A. Sánchez
GOAL! Arsenal have pulled one back! A curling cross from Oxlade-Chamberlain finds Giroud in front of goal, and the striker quickly nods the ball over to Sanchez. The Chilean, who has been presented with very few chances tonight, skips past Francis before beating Boruc with a diving header. Game on!
A. Smith
R. Fraser
Fraser receives a standing ovation from the Bournemouth fans as he makes way for Adam Smith in the home side's second change of the game.
Almost another chance for Fraser! The little winger skips past Mustafi far too easily before flying into the penalty area on a wonderful run, but it's brought to an end by a vital sliding tackle from Oxlade-Chamberlain just as he looks set to shoot from close range.
Fraser, who has caused plenty of issues for the Arsenal defence this evening, darts in from the left wing as he tries to latch on to the ball on the edge of the penalty area, but he narrowly loses out to Mustafi just as he's about to unleash a thumping strike.
Gabriel Paulista
L. Koscielny
Meanwhile, Koscielny has made way for Gabriel.
Lucas Pérez
A. Iwobi
Arsenal have made a double substitution with just under half an hour left to play. The first player to come on is Lucas Perez, who replaces Iwobi.
A. Surman
J. King
Bournemouth have made their first substitution of the evening, with King making way for Andrew Surman.
Once again, Bournemouth cause Arsenal all sorts of problems as they counter quickly, and Mustafi ends up giving away a free-kick in a dangerous position after cynically tripping Wilson whilst on the ground. Stanislas steps up and unleashes a wonderful curling strike, but Cech is there to parry the shot away from danger.
Arsenal immediately push forward from the restart as they try to find a way back into the game, but Sanchez, after doing well to weave his way into the penalty area, can't guide his low strike past Cook and has to settle for a corner.
C. Daniels
Daniels was involved in a Bournemouth goal once again, but that goal was all about Fraser. He's caused so many problems over on the left wing, where his pace has been a real issue for Bellerin.
R. Fraser
GOAL! And now it's 3-0! Fraser darts down the left flank on a wonderful run as he takes on Bellerin. He easily beats the Spaniard to a loose ball before leaving him on the ground as he sprints into the box, and the winger then slots his side's latest goal into the back of the net through the legs of Cech.
Bournemouth score, but it's ruled out! Arsenal are caught out at the back by a quick throw-in, allowing Bournemouth to penetrate the visitors' penalty area far too easily. A curling cross can only find Cech but is pushed out to Harry Arter, who then unleashes a rocket of a strike that deflects off Wilson and into the back of the net. The goal is immediately disallowed, however, after the referee spots a handball from the striker.
Bellerin gets himself into a good position deep down the right wing before trying to tee up Giroud with a low cross into the middle of the box, but the Frenchman fails to meet it and allows Ake to easily pick up possession under no pressure whatsoever.
What a tackle by Cook! Arsenal continue piling pressure on the Bournemouth back line as they push forward once again. Giroud and Ramsey link up wonderfully well on the edge of the penalty area before the latter weaves his way into the box, but just as he's about to shoot, he's dispossessed by a great interception from Cook.
Bellerin darts down the right wing and takes on Daniels before winning Arsenal their third corner of the night. It's whipped in by Xhaka, who once again sends a cross towards the near post, but it's really poorly hit by the midfielder and is easily dealt with by King.
Oxlade-Chamberlain skips into the right-hand side of the Bournemouth penalty area on a great run before chipping a dangerous cross towards Giroud, but, under pressure from Cook, the Frenchman can only make a tiny bit of contact with the ball, and it isn't enough to trouble Boruc.
The visitors come back once again, with Iwobi and Sanchez linking up this time. The Nigerian twists and turns on the left-hand side of the Bournemouth box before setting up Sanchez in a dangerous position inside the penalty area, but Francis is there to thump the ball away from danger at the near post.
Arsenal start to the second half on the front foot as they try to find a way back into the game. Sanchez and Monreal both do well to get forward down the left flank before the former tries to tee up the latter with a poked pass, but the Spaniard starts his run slightly too early and is quickly flagged offside.
And we're underway once again!
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
What a fantastic first half it's been for Bournemouth! The home side have been all over Arsenal, with the visitors really struggling to deal with the potent front line that they've come up against. The Cherries have been helped by a really poor performance from Wenger's men, who have looked disjointed and bereft of ideas. As a result, they've barely troubled the Bournemouth defence, let alone troubled Boruc with a decent chance on goal.
Stanislas steps up and shoots from the resulting set-piece, but his curling effort fails to beat the wall of yellow shirts in front of him and ends up bouncing away from danger before the referee brings an end to the first half.
A. Ramsey
Yellow Card
Ramsey clumsily drags Wilson to the ground as the striker tries to dart his way towards the penalty area, and he gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position before becoming the latest player to receive a yellow card.
Fantastic strike by Stanislas! Fraser cuts inside from the left wing and beats Bellerin before picking out Stanislas just outside of the Arsenal penalty area, and the number 19 then unleashes a wonderful bouncing strike that beats Cech before flying just wide of the near post.
Bournemouth come back once again as they continue to put plenty of pressure on the Arsenal back line, but King ends up pushing Monreal to the ground as they battle for the ball inside the box and the Norwegian gives away a free-kick just as he's about to make contact with the ball.
Mustafi clumsily gives the ball away to Daniels with a poor pass and allows the full-back to break forward on a great run. He sprints down the left flank and heads towards the byline before crossing, but Cech is there to cut out the danger.
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
S. Cook
Yellow Card
Cook dived into the back of Sanchez and brought the Chilean crashing to the ground in the build-up to Arsenal's last counter-attacking move, and he's eventually shown a yellow card after the attack comes to an end.
A poor pass from Francis is cut out by Ramsey and allows Arsenal to counter quickly. Iwobi initially does well to get forward before trying to fire a cross towards Giroud, but it's easily closed down and ends up deflecting into the hands of Artur Boruc.
Chance for Iwobi! Bellerin does well to set up Oxlade-Chamberlain deep down the right wing before the latter whips a clever cross back to Iwobi, but the youngster is quickly closed down by Francis and ends up sending his first-time strike bouncing a few yards wide of the Bournemouth goal.
Mustafi breaks into the Bournemouth half of the pitch and ploughs forward on a marauding run before trying to slide a through-ball into the path of Giroud but, yet again, he isn't on the same wave-length as the Frenchman and sends his pass trickling out of play for a goal-kick.
Francis is left in a pocket of space once again and is able to curl a dangerous cross into the middle of the Arsenal box and towards Wilson, but Ramsey does well to dart back and cut out the danger with an important interception just as the striker was about to make contact with the ball.
Arsenal are able to string together a few passes inside their own half of the pitch before Mustafi tries to pick out a teammate with a lofted pass forward, but it's completely overhit by the defender and, once again, leaves Giroud isolated on the edge of the Bournemouth box.
Vital tackle by Mustafi! A half-volleyed pass from Cook catches out the Arsenal defence and allows Wilson to sprint into the penalty area on a great run, but just as he's about to shoot from close range, Mustafi dives in the way to dispossess the striker with an excellent interception.
The set-piece is curled into the heart of the Arsenal penalty area and momentarily causes the visitors a few problems, but they're just about to deal with the danger before Cech eventually collects the ball inside the six-yard box.
Héctor Bellerín
Yellow Card
Bournemouth move the ball around brilliantly inside the Arsenal half of the pitch before Fraser tries to burst down the left wing on a quick run, but he's clumsily fouled from behind by a poor sliding challenge from Bellerin and wins his side a free-kick in a dangerous position.
Great play by Arsenal! The visitors break away on a blisteringly quick counter-attack through Iwobi, who links up nicely with Sanchez over on the left flank. The Chilean cuts inside swiftly before picking out Ramsey with a clever bouncing pass, and the Welshman then spins round his marker before firing a dangerous shot just wide of the near post.
A. Oxlade-Chamberlain
F. Coquelin
Coquelin has been struggling with what looks like a slight knock over the past few minutes, and he's eventually replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a substitution that Wenger really wouldn't have wanted to make at this stage of the game.
Arsenal are desperately trying to string together a series of passes inside the Bournemouth half of the pitch, but it just isn't working for them. The three attacking midfielders all seem to be on a completely different wavelength, leaving Giroud completely isolated up front.
The Bournemouth back line are put under pressure as they fail to clear the ball quickly enough, but, despite his best efforts, Alex Iwobi is unable to pick up possession in a dangerous position and loses out to Daniels as he tries to muscle his way past the full-back.
Arsenal immediately push forward as they desperately try to find a way back into the game, but Sanchez shoots from the edge of the penalty area instead of passing to Ramsey and ends up firing his effort on goal comfortably over the top of the crossbar.
C. Wilson
Penalty Goal
GOAL! Wilson steps up and calmly side-foots a shot straight down the middle of the goal and into the back of the net. What a start for Bournemouth!
PENALTY! Arsenal lose the ball deep inside the Bournemouth half of the pitch, allowing the home side to break forward quickly. They do so through Ryan Fraser, who uses his pace brilliantly to burst into the left-hand side of the penalty area before being clumsily pushed to the ground by Xhaka.
Monreal is tripped over deep down the left wing and wins Arsenal a free-kick in a dangerous position. Once again, it's curled into the penalty area by Xhaka, but the midfielder is unable to get enough power behind the pass to pick out a team-mate.
J. Stanislas
Even at this early stage of the game, Stanislas has arguably been one of Bournemouth's standout performers. The midfielder has looked dangerously every time he's able to get on the ball, and his pass to Daniels was one of many that's caused Arsenal problems.
C. Daniels
GOAL! Bournemouth have taken the lead! Bellerin leaves a huge gap available over on the right-hand side of the Arsenal penalty area, allowing Daniels to bring down a great Stanislas pass before skipping past the Spanish full-back and firing a low shot under the body of Cech. That was really poor defending from the visitors!
Bournemouth, who are bossing possession at the moment, lose the ball midway inside the Arsenal half of the pitch and allow the visitors to counter quickly. Giroud does well to muscle his way forward before poking the ball over to Sanchez, but the Chilean's attempted pass towards Aaron Ramsey is sent slightly too late and finds the Welshman in an offside position.
Big call by the referee! Stanislas fires a lovely low pass into the Arsenal penalty area and towards Wilson, who attempts to skip past Cech before going down under a challenge from the goalkeeper. The Bournemouth fans behind the goal immediately scream for a penalty, but the replay shows that Cech managed to get a hand to the ball to deny Wilson.
Not for the first time this evening, Francis finds himself with the ball at his feet in a promising position. He's left in a pocket of space by Monreal and is allowed the time to swing a cross towards Wilson, but Shkodran Mustafi is just about able to get a head to the ball to stop it from finding the Bournemouth striker in front of goal.
Coquelin and Nacho Monreal link up well deep down the left flank before a cross from the latter is sent out for a corner by Daniels. Granit Xhaka steps up and sends the corner towards the near post, but it's poorly hit by the Switzerland international and is easily cleared by King.
Charlie Daniels battles hard over on the left-hand side of the penalty area before forcing Bellerin into poking the ball out for a corner. The set-piece initially fails to result in a chance on goal for the home side before the ball falls to Junior Stanislas 30 yards away from goal, but the midfielder's rocket of a shot is fired straight into the hands of Cech.
A half-hearted Arsenal attacking move comes to an end, allowing Simon Francis to thump forward a lofted pass. It flies over the top of the visitors' back line before finding Callum Wilson on the edge of the penalty area, but the linesman's flag is raised as soon as the striker makes contact with the ball.
First chance for Joshua King! Francis Coquelin falls asleep on the ball and is dispossessed from behind by Steve Cook. The defender charges forward and quickly tees up King, but the Norwegian is unable to beat Petr Cech from 25 yards out, despite his shot flying just a yard or two wide of the far post.
After a patient start to the game from Arsenal, Alexis Sanchez cuts inside from the left wing and beats his marker before setting up Hector Bellerin. The full-back is in great space and quickly manages to fire a cross towards Olivier Giroud, but Nathan Ake is there to head the ball away from danger.
And we're off! Bournemouth get us underway, attacking from right to left.
The two sides are making their way out on to the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has also made three alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Gabriel, Mohamed Elneny and Lucas Perez making way for Shkodran Mustafi, Francis Coquelin and Aaron Ramsey.
Eddie Howe has decided to make three changes to the Bournemouth side that started the victory against Swansea, with Dan Gosling, Joshua King and Callum Wilson coming into the starting line-up to replace Andrew Surman, Jack Wilshere and Benik Afobe, respectively.
Arsenal substitutes: Ospina, Holding, Gabriel, Maitland-Niles, Reine-Adelaide, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Perez.
Arsenal XI (4-2-3-1): Cech; Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Xhaka; Ramsey, Sanchez, Iwobi; Giroud.
Bournemouth substitutes: Federici, Mings, Brad Smith, Adam Smith, Surman, Mousset, Ibe.
Bournemouth XI (4-2-3-1): Boruc; Francis, Cook, Ake, Daniels; Arter, Gosling; Stanislas, King, Fraser; Wilson.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Eddie Howe’s men recently suffered back-to-back defeats of their own but comfortably bounced back with an easy win against struggling Swansea City on New Year’s Eve. Benik Afobe marked his return to the starting line-up with his side’s opening goal after just 25 minutes, but he misses out against his old club this evening, with Callum Wilson once again leading the line.
That victory did come in thrilling fashion against Liverpool, however, with Bournemouth showing great grit and determination to fight back from 3-1 down in the final 15 minutes. The Cherries have impressed so far this season and currently sit in a very respectable ninth place, nine points clear of the relegation zone and with the opportunity to close the gap between themselves and West Brom to two points.
Arsenal left it late against West Brom and had to be bailed out by Olivier Giroud in the 84th minute, but they will feel confident about their chances of winning tonight. The Gunners have won all three of the league meetings between the two sides, whilst Bournemouth have so far this campaign managed to win just once against a team in the top half of the table.
After suffering a slight setback with back-to-back defeats against Everton and Manchester City, Arsenal returned to winning ways against West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day before following up with a victory at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday. As a result, they start the evening in fourth place, two points behind Manchester City and with the chance to move to within one point of second-place Liverpool if they are victorious once again.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between Bournemouth and Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium.
