Chicago Fire 0-1 Aston Villa: Paul Lambert maintains winning start as Villans' boss

Brad Guzan kept a clean sheet on his return to Chicago, as the Premier League side secured victory thanks to a Gabriel Agbonlahor header in the new manager's second game in charge

Aston Villa won a second consecutive match by a 1-0 scoreline on their pre-season tour of the United States, this time dispatching the Chicago Fire.

Earlier in the tour the Premier League club had beaten the Philadelphia Union in what was recently-appointed manager Paul Lambert's first game in charge of the Birmingham-based club.

During the first half at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois, Gabriel Agbonlahor opened the scoring by powering home a header after muscling aside Chicago's Arne Friedrich.

In a sluggish friendly marked by copious amounts of substitutions, the main concern for Lambert was that goalscorer Agbonlahor had to be stretchered off midway through the second half with an apparent knee problem.

Late in the second half Villa's US international goalkeeper Brad Guzan was given a cursory run-out in his hometown of Chicago.
