The Polish keeper superbly denied Anichebe in the second half with a strong right hand. He also got out well to deny Naismith and made a good block from a close-range Fellaini volley. A great display after the Saints have struggled for a regular No.1 this season.

The right-back coped well with Pienaar but did not get tight enough to Baines at times. Provided an option in attack on the flank.

    Maya Yoshida

Struggled to deal with Fellaini's aerial ability and did not track Jelavic well enough but was let off by poor finishing from the striker.

The 17-year-old made enterprising runs down the left and showed great strength both with and without the ball. With displays like this, he has the makings of a future star.

Composed presence in the centre of the park and kept Everton's creative players quiet. He won the ball well and moved it on to more dynamic players.

    G. Ramírez

Strong in the tackle and and clever in possession, he almost set up Do Prado and drew a fine save from Howard after a strong run. Replaced by Davis.

The youngster combined well with Schneiderlin in the centre to stifle Everton's midfield; he could be an important presence for the Saints in avoiding relegation.

    Guilherme Do Prado

The midfielder was lucky to escape a caution for a reckless early lunge but got forward well with energy to provide Lambert with support. Replaced by Rodriguez.

    Jay Rodriguez

Given 30 minutes to find the Saints a breakthrough and looked confident trying to open up the Toffees. Also willing to work hard for the side.

Tim Howard Top of the Match

The American made great stops in the first half from Lambert, Ramirez and Hooiveld to keep his side in the game - he was the main reason why the Toffees left with a point.

    Leighton Baines

The left-back found space down the flank and was unafraid to shoot from range but his delivery was not up to its usual high standards. Cleared a header off the line to keep the scores level, though.

    Phil Jagielka

His vital early clearance denied Puncheon an easy finish and the England defender stopped the forward with another block. A solid presence for David Moyes' side.

    Sylvain Distin

Bailed out by Jagielka on a couple of occasions, the centre-back looked off the pace. He took a chance by pushing Yoshida needlessly in the box and could not handle Lambert.
