Important save in first half with his feet to deny Hoilett. Crucial intervention which allowed his side to push on for victory. Handelling was solid all afternoon.
Not really troubled at the back, which allowed the full-back to support the attack whenever his side had the ball. He had a couple of long range opportunites which went well wide and he bombarded the visitors' box with crosses.
Showed huge drive and urged his side forward at every opportunity. Not the busiest of afternoons for the Chelsea skipper but he showed all of his leadership skills at a time the Blues badly need them.
Not the man you would have thought of before the game but the big defender was Chelsea's goal hero. He picked up John Terry's flick-on and slotted home from close range past a host of defenders and Paul Robinson. Hardly tested in defence. Also, created second as his goalbound effort was flicked in by Anelka.
Played more like a left winger than a left full-back. Got to the byline to give his side an extra option and crossed well all game. Not troubled defensively.
Plenty of good touches from the French winger but not enough end product. Still failing to reproduce his early season form for the Blues
Hit the bar with an early effort but still failing to live up to his price tag. Moved the ball forward with pace but made wrong decisions at the vital times.
Marked tightly firstly by David Dunn and then by Jason Lowe. Moved the ball into good positions and tried to get himself in the box at every opportunity but the ball did not fall for him today.
Made a couple of telling contributions in the first-half when he put Drogba clean through on goal and then he hit the bar after getting on the end of a whipped cross into the box. Blasted another opportunity wide early in the second-half.
Had two glorious opportunites when put through on goal, but seemed sluggish as he allowed Blackburn defenders to get back and make last ditch tackles. Worked hard for his side and roamed the field putting in good crosses from both sides of the pitch, but looks off the pace at the moment.
Strong in the air for the visitors and repelled nearly everything the home side threw at him. Solid partnership with Samba at the heart of the Rovers defence.
With his side under the cosh for most of the match, you would have expected Robinson to have made a series of stunning saves, but in all honesty he hardly had a save to make. When called into action though he will be disapointed with his efforts. Ivanovic's shot was from close range but the ball wasn't far away from the keeper and nine times out of 10 he would expect to save that shot. Sharp save to deny Drogba to keep his side in the game at 1-0.
Stunning early strike which was saved by Petr Cech. Tracked back well when Bosingwa bombed forward to give his full back some protection.
Made a suberb goal saving tackle on Didier Drogba in the first-half, when the Ivorian was clear through on goal. Another outstanding performer in the Blackburn defence.
Threw his ageing body into plenty of challenges today. Defended resolutely down the right and made a couple of telling interventions when Chelsea were on the verge of scoring. Got forward more in the second half as his side chased the game.
Was there when his side needed him as Chelsea poured forward in the opening stages. He made a series of last ditch tackles and read Chelsea's play superbly. Marshalled the backline superbly and first to every ball. After all his efforts, and those of his colleagues, will be disappointed with Chelsea's tame opener.
Run around like a terrier snapping at the heels of the Chelsea midfield, but only lasted 23 minutes as he appeared to tweak a hamstring. Replaced by Jason Lowe.
Worked hard in the middle of the park to protect his defence. Closed down the ball all afternoon but failed to get on the ball enough to influence his side's attacking play.
Used his pace to get at Chelsea whenever he was on the ball. Popped up all over the pitch and had a glorious opportunity in the first-half when he was denied from the edge of the box by Cech. Replaced by Jason Roberts in the second half.
Held up the ball well for his side whenever he could. Lacked support as his team-mates tried to weather the Chelsea storm. Replaced by Roque Santa Cruz at half-time.
Provided an outlet on the right for Blackburn but was a passenger for far too much of the game. It didn't help that his side were under pressure for most of the match, but needed to show more for his side in attack to give his defenders some much needed respite.
- 13 M. Bunn
- 31 G. Hanley
Made his Premier League debut after coming on for the injured David Dunn after 23 minutes. Given a tough ride by Lampard and Essien in the middle of the park. Will be better for it though.
- 21 B. Mwaruwari
Replaced David Hoilett after 67 minutes when his side were trying to get back into the game.
- 10 E. Diouf
R. Santa Cruz
Brought on at half-time to replace Kalinic, but not the return to the Blackburn side he would have hoped for. Hardly had a kick in 45 minutes.
