    Diego López Rodríguez

Barely a meaningful moment for the keeper, but he did stand tall to deny Villarreal at the near post. No chance for the youngster's goal.

  • David Mateos

    3.00

    David Mateos

Like Pepe, he had little to busy himself with throughout the game outside of routine tasks and recycling possession.

  • Daniel Carvajal

    3.50

    Daniel Carvajal

Took a nasty blow to the nose early in the first half, but it did not seem to dent his courage as he often motored down the right to support the attack.

  • Pepe
    21
    3
    3.00

    Pepe

Got his head onto one or two testing balls into the box and was generally assured, though relatively untroubled for the most part.

  • Denis Cheryshev

    3.00

    Denis Cheryshev

Drafted into a left-back role on the night, but with Ronaldo on a one-man mission down that flank, he often found himself drifting infield to get involved in the game.

  • Luka Modric

    3.00

    Luka Modric

Though he came off worse in a challenge with Zardes, he still probed effectively alongside Isco through the spine of LA time and time again. His passing was typically accurate throughout.

  • Kaká
    50
    14
    2.50

    Kaká

The Brazilian seemed unable to get out o his own way at times, and was not quite able to get in sync with the otherwise impressive Madrid attack.

  • Mesut Özil
    45
    9
    3.00

    Mesut Özil

He may not have been noticed, but the German did his job with typical efficiency, facilitating play amongst his team-mates and keeping the ball ticking in the opposition half.

  • Isco
    68
    10
    4.00

    Isco

Found a lot of joy centrally with the space afforded to him by LA's focus on Ronaldo and Di Maria out wide. Played his part in the first goal by picking out the former with a deep pass, who in turn squared to the latter to score. Repeated the feat with an even tastier ball from deep with the outside of his boot to set up Benzema for the second.

  • Ángel Di María
    46
    9
    4.00

    Ángel Di María

A consistent threat out on the flanks, having the beating of his marker time and time again. Drifted centrally to great effect, no more so than his prod home from Ronaldo's cutback for the opener. Kept his energy levels up all game to set up Benzema's clincher with a bursting run and cross.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo
    66
    10
    4.00

    Cristiano Ronaldo

The fans flocked in numbers to see the Portuguese and he did not disappoint, electrifying the crows with his footwork and speed on and off the ball. Had his way with the defence, and set up the opener with a deft one-touch pass into the path of Di Maria.

Had little to do between the posts.

    Nacho Fernández

Never put under any kind of pressure and was a spectator for the most part.

  • Casemiro
    27

    Casemiro

Relatively untroubled in the middle and was happy to distribute the ball in a safe manner.

  • José Rodríguez

    José Rodríguez

Got his head to a few deliveries into the box late on.

  • Sami Khedira
    28
    6
    3.00

    Sami Khedira

Injected some fresh legs in the middle of the park, and charged forward once or twice, but never really got on the ball in a decisive matter.

  • Karim Benzema
    50
    5
    4.00

    Karim Benzema

Clinical in his spell off the bench in the second half, with a fantastic display of control and finishing to make it 2-0 and a strong header to put the score at 3-1.

  • Morata
    22
    11
    2.50

    Morata

The lone booking of the game for the home side late in the game.

  • Brian Rowe
    1
    3
    2.50

    Brian Rowe

Made a smart stop on Isco's drive, but was helpless for Madrid's goals.

  • A.J. DeLaGarza
    0
    3
    3.00

    A.J. DeLaGarza

A feisty performer for the American side, with a few meaty challenges, and a sneaky barge into Carvajal that left the Madrid man needing treatment.

  • Sean Franklin
    0
    3
    3.00

    Sean Franklin

Chased Ronaldo up and down the flank, and though he was beaten once or twice, his effort could not be faulted in any way.

  • Leonardo
    0
    1
    2.00

    Leonardo

Looked completely lost at times in defence, abandoning his position to chase the man on the ball, leaving fatal gaps in behind.

  • Todd Dunivant
    0
    2
    2.00

    Todd Dunivant

At fault for the opener, as he completely forgot about Angel Di Maria inside his own area, and allowed the Argentine to slot home the opener.

  • Hector Jimenez
    0
    3
    2.50

    Hector Jimenez

Not much help in the middle of the park as the class of Isco and the other Madrid schemers was simply too much to handle.

  • Juninho
    2
    3
    2.50

    Juninho

Threatened intermittently with his ability on the ball, but his danger occurred too sporadically.

  • Jack McBean

    2.50

    Jack McBean

Gave the ball away rather obviously on a few occasions in the first half.

  • Gyasi Zardes
    0
    2
    2.50

    Gyasi Zardes

Expended a lot of energy closing down his Madrid counterparts, but too often, he was left chasing shadows.

  • Marcelo Sarvas
    0
    2
    2.50

    Marcelo Sarvas

Was a useful target in advanced areas at times but failed to do much when presented with time on the ball.

  • Jose Villarreal
    3
    2
    3.50

    Jose Villarreal

A very encouraging presence in the opposition half, not least a mesmerising run to beat three players. Took matters into his own hands again in the second half, and this time, made it count, driving past two players and unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Substitutions

The Argentine-born midfielder could not male his mark on the game and was starved for possession.

  • Robbie Rogers

    Robbie Rogers

Added a touch of energy to his side's cause in the opposition half, but was unable to add purpose to his industry.

    Michael Stephens

Welcome relief in midfield, but was not able to stem the game back into his side's favor.

  • Rafa García

    Rafa García

Largely ineffective in midfield, one of a string of forgettable LA performers.

    Tommy Meyer

Beaten in the air by Benzema for Madrid's third goal in a disappointing cameo.

Failed to add anything meaningful to his side.
