VIDAL COY ON MAN UTD

Louis van Gaal is set to be a busy man when he arrives at Manchester United, with a flurry of transfer activity expected.

One player heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford is Arturo Vidal, and the Juventus midfielder has been speaking about his future to the press back in his homeland, although the Chile international is keeping his cards close to his chest.

"I've heard the rumours," he told La Tercera, "but I haven't spoken more about this subject."

MESSI MANIA

It appears there is only one thing standing between Germany and a fourth World Cup title, well, one man.

The hopes of a nation are resting on the shoulders of Lionel Messi, and while the Barcelona star carried his side through the early stages of the World Cup, he's come in for some criticism in the latter stages.

Ben Hayward and Julian Iglesias have seen 'Messi mania' sweep across Brazil and Argentina, ahead of the biggest game for the Albiceleste in 24 years.

FROM RESERVE TO REVERED

There are always one or two remarkable stories to come out of the World Cup and the tale of Sergio Romero takes some beating.

The Argentina keeper was sat on the bench for his club Monaco throughout last season but was the hero in his side's semi-final win over the Netherlands.

Ben Hayward explains the shot-stoppers remarkable turnaround, with a little help from Diego Simeone.

KINGSLEY SNUB

Juventus have pulled off one of the transfer coups of the summer by landing promising teenager Kingsley Coman from Paris Saint-Germain.

And the 18-year-old has revealed he turned down the chance to move to Arsenal and Liverpool in order to sign with the Serie A champions.

Coman told L'Equipe: "Juventus has a history with French players, some of them did very well. So I told myself, why not me?"

KLINSMANN BACKS GERMANY

We are edging ever closer to the World Cup final this evening and everyone seems to be getting their predictions in ahead of the big kick off between Germany and Argentina.

USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann is the latest to voice his opinions and he, unsurprisingly, reckons that his homeland have the upperhand heading into the Maracana contest.

"I think they're ready for it," he told reporters. "I think they have the qualities to win it."

The Netherlands ended an exceptional World Cup campaign last night with a comfortable 3-0 win over Brazil in the third-place play-off, a game that saw Daley Blind net his first international goal.

The full-back has been a revelation in Brazil, supplying sublime crosses and composed displays as the Dutch reached the last four. And with rumours now gathering pace about a possible move to the Premier League, George Ankers has filed his scouting report of the 24-year-old Ajax man.
