    WHAT HAPPENED?

Burnley took apart 10-man Sheffield United at Turf Moor thanks to goals from Jay Rodriguez, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Zeki Amdouni, Luca Koleosho, and Josh Brownhill. Oli McBurnie was sent off for two yellow cards before half time as the Blades were leapfrogged by the 19th-placed Clarets.

After the match, JJ Watt, who invested in the club in May of this year, took to social media to toast Vincent Kompany's side's victory. Such was his delight, he considered having a morning beverage to celebrate the occasion, with the former defensive end currently back in the United States.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sheffield United's defeat was the third time they have conceded five goals or more this season. They were destroyed 8-0 by Newcastle United and 5-0 by Arsenal earlier on this campaign and this latest drubbing heaps more pressure on Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom. Burnley are still in the relegation zone but this win may give them confidence they can beat the drop. For the Sheffield outfit, the outlook is very grim.

  • WHAT NEXT?

The Clarets are back in Premier League action away to Wolves on Tuesday. United, on the other hand, host high-flying Liverpool on Wednesday.
