Masandawana are expected to trim down their squad during the South African summer transfer window.

Mamelodi Sundowns have some of the biggest squads in the Premier Soccer League with over 40 players on their books.
Head coach Rhulani Mokwena has indicated that Jody February could be one of the players to leave the club on loan during the January 2023 transfer window.
GOAL takes a look at players who might be offloaded by the reigning PSL champions.

  • Katlego Mohamme, Mamelodi Sundowns, November 2022

    Katlego Mohamme

The former South Africa under-23 star was linked with a move back to Swallows FC before the last transfer window closed having spent last term with the Soweto giants on loan, but he stayed put at Downs.
Mohamme, 24, will reportedly be loaned out to either PSL side or National First Division club in order to get some game time as he is yet to feature for a star-studded Sundowns side in a competitive match this season.

  • Lesedi Kapinga, Mamelodi Sundowns, December 2021

    Lesedi Kapinga

The gifted attacking midfielder has fallen out of favour at Masandawana following the arrival of Marcelo Allende who has become a regular after joining the club in August this year.
Limpopo-based Marumo Gallants have been credited with an interest in Kapinga and it remains to be seen whether the former Black Leopards star will return to his home province as he looks to revive his career.

  • Ofentse Mashiane, Mamelodi Sundowns, January 2022

    Ofentse Mashiane

The towering midfielder has found game time hard to come by in the Downs first team this term having been promoted from the reserve team last term.
Mashiane, 21, who is nicknamed Yaya Toure, has been tipped to leave the Tshwane giants for a club which will guarantee him regular game time whilst on loan.

  • Gift Motupa, Mamelodi Sundowns, April 2021

    Gift Motupa

The former Orlando Pirates star was heavily linked with SuperSport United before the last transfer window closed, but a move away from Sundowns never materialized.
With Motupa having struggled to cement his place in the Downs starting line-up this term, his former coach at Bidvest Wits, Gavin Hunt is said to be keen to reunite with him at SuperSport who have a great working relationship with Sundowns.

  • Luvuyo Phewa, University of Pretoria, March 2022

    Luvuyo Phewa

The former South Africa under-20 international was expected to return to the University of Pretoria on another season-long loan deal during the last South African winter transfer window.
However, Phewa underwent surgery and he stayed put at Downs, but the 23-year-old midfielder looks set to leave the 12-time PSL champions having made a full recovery.

  • Jody February, Mamelodi Sundowns, October 2020

    Jody February

The Cape Town-born player surprisingly stayed at Sundowns despite the arrival of fellow goalkeeper Ronwen Williams at the club in August this year.
February, who is yet to make the matchday squad in this campaign, will depart on loan once again having spent last term with Swallows FC.
