Man Utd star Christian Eriksen sends advice to Tom Lockyer as Luton captain remains in hospital after cardiac arrest

Lockyer collapsed on the field during his side's Premier League clash at Bournemouth and was subsequently rushed to hospital while the match was abandoned because of the incident. It was later confirmed that Lockyer had gone into cardiac arrest but was "alert and responsive".

Having also dealt with the horror of suffering cardiac arrest on the football pitch, Manchester United and Denmark midfielder Eriksen had some words of advice for Lockyer, telling BetFred: "I’ve read and seen what’s happened and I hope he’s okay, takes his time, is in a healthy way and his family are there to support him. I cross my fingers that he’s fine. My advice to him would be to make the best decision you can. If the doctors tell you to do something else then you’ve got to respect it and see what you can do. There’s nothing that’s going to hold you back, but in the end it all depends on how he’s feeling and what the doctors are saying. He has to make the decision with his family, but he should take his time and focus on himself."

Eriksen collapsed during Denmark's Euro 2020 match against Finland, having suffered cardiac arrest. The player was forced to leave Inter because of Serie A rules preventing players from having a cardioverter-defibrillator device. He returned to action with Brentford the following year and then signed for Manchester United.

It is not yet known if Lockyer will return to the game. He has now collapsed on the field twice this year, having gone down in the Championship play-off final at the end of last season. Luton's latest update on Sunday said that Lockyer is "still undergoing tests and scans, and is awaiting the results before the next steps for his recovery are determined".
