KwaZulu-Natal Derby - Maritzburg vs. AmaZulu

Considering the impressive fan support Maritzburg United have garnered over recent years and combine it with AmaZulu's history, this rivalry is certainly up there with the country's best.

Usuthu, though, have not won any of their last five derby games while Maritzburg have won three of those.

Limpopo Derby - Black Leopards vs. Baroka

Another derby which is still in its infancy. Black Leopards hold Limpopo bragging rights having won five of the 12 meetings against Baroka

Visiting Thohoyandou Stadium on any day is an intense affair, but when Bakgaga take on Black Leopards there, in particular, it is an incredibly intense affair.

Ikapa Derby - Ajax Cape Town vs. Cape Town City

Sadly, fans have been deprived of this fledgeling rivalry following the relegation of Ajax Cape Town at the end of the 2017/18 PSL season.

Not only do both club's hail from the same province but the history between the two sides has added to the rivalry, and although many believe the Citizens have been born of Ajax's struggles, City are currently seen as the Mother City's biggest club.

Tshwane Derby - Mamelodi Sundowns vs. SuperSport United

For many, the Tshwane Derby could be the most exciting derby in South Africa due to both team's success in recent years.

However, the derby lacks the glamour and hype of its rival, the Soweto Derby, but it does promise quality football with both teams packed with international experience and talent.

Soweto Derby - Kaizer Chiefs vs. Orlando Pirates

The most highly-anticipated fixture on the South African football calendar. The Soweto Derby has captured the imagination of fans and players.

With at least 80 000 fans consistently packing FNB Stadium for the match, this makes the derby one of the biggest in the world.

However, the lack of success for both teams in recent years has taken away some of the glee from the occasion.
