  • Toffees deducted 10 Premier League points
  • Club violated financial rules
  • Three clubs to demand compensation from them
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

An independent commission will decide if the Toffees should be deducted further points as three clubs - Burnley, Leeds and Leicester - are plotting to demand £300 million ($374m) in compensation from them. The Daily Mail claims that if the trio are successful, Everton would sustain another points deduction and would likely be in danger of going out of business. The Merseyside outfit are set to be taken over by 777Partners, but the company will pay a reduced fee should they be relegated or have to pay compensation to other teams.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Everton were handed a 10-points deduction on Friday after it was ruled that they violated the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules. The Goodison Park club will appeal the decision and The Telegraph says they will fight hard against any attempt to force them to pay compensation to other teams.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The 10-point deduction handed to Everton is the most severe in Premier League history. The punishment leaves them second-bottom of the division and two from safety. If they were to be docked more points, Sean Dyche's team would likely end up being relegated.
