Deputy skipper Nathaniel Adjei talks about the teams determination to win the regional tournament

Ghana under-17 assistant captain Nathaniel Adjei says the team will not be complacent of any opponent as the knockout stage of the Wafu Zone B Championship gets underway on Wednesday.

The Black Starlets are still in the running for the title, which will guarantee qualification to next year's Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania.

One of four remaining teams, Karim Zito's side will take on Cote d'Ivoire in the semi-final in their quest to make Saturday's climax.

“Our mood is the same as for the first and second games, the objective is clear," Danbort FC centre-back Adjei told Ghanasportsonline

“We are not taking any chances.

“We’re taking it a game at a time so not to get carried away. The coach warned us against complacency before the last group game.

“We can’t get ahead of ourselves at the moment. We’re very optimistic but cautious as we aim to clinch the sole slot from the zone.”

After a scoreless stalemate against hosts Niger, Ghana registered a 2-1 triumph over Togo in their second and last group game to make the last four.

The Wafu Zone B Championship is in line with Caf's new resolution to play mini regional qualifying tournament to decide the final participants for the U-17 Afcon.

The top four teams at the Afcon will represent Africa at the World Cup to be held in Peru.

Ghana finished second at the last Afcon in 2017.
