The 28-year-old has been told he no longer forms part of Jozef Vukusic's plans going forward but he has to continue honouring his contract

AmaZulu are set to part ways with former Orlando Pirates defender Tshepo Gumede in the upcoming transfer window.

Gumede has been with Usuthu since the start of the year after being brought in by former coach Cavin Johnson as a free agent.

After making six appearances last season, Gumede has found game time hard to come by this season, and Johnson's departure has seen him fall down the pecking order at the club.

According to current coach Jozef Vukusic, the utility defender is not part of his plans going forward, and the Slovakian mentor said Gumede already knows about this.

"The question about Tshepo is that he is not in our plans. He's not. That is simple and he knows," Vukusic told the media on Sunday.

Gumede last played a competitive match for AmaZulu on September 28 when they lost 1-0 to SuperSport United.

He featured just twice since Vukusic joined the club in mid-September following the sacking of Johnson.

Gumede signed a new two-year deal at the end of last term and this means both parties will have to agree on a settlement before he can leave AmaZulu.

Should both Gumede and AmaZulu agree on terms for the termination of his current contract then the player will leave as a free agent in January.

Usuthu could also opt to cash in on the player come January should there be teams interested in buying Gumede out of his contract.
