Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed Bangaly Soumahoro remains in his plans for the current season.

The Ivorian defender hasn't been a regular for the Brazilians in recent months, but Mosimane maintains Soumahoro is still very much a Sundowns player.

It is for this reason Mosimane registered him for this season's Caf Champions League.

"We still have five spaces for December. We will always do that [add more players]. We keep places. Even last year, we didn’t register him earlier, we registered him after. There are guys we might register, but it’s normal. Ask Al Ahly, ask Zamalek," Mosimane told reporters.

"You can’t put 30 players now and then in December five players leave and then you are short. So, there’s still another registration period coming up.

"We registered him [Soumahoro] for Caf."

Last season, Soumahoro made a single appearance for the Tshwane giants and there were reports of him leaving the club.

However, Mosimane's latest comments suggest Soumahoro is likely to stay with Sundowns for the foreseeable future.

The 28-year-old utility player has been with the club for the past four seasons.

He has won three league titles, the Caf Champions League, Caf Super Cup, and Telkom Knockout Cup titles with the Chloorkop-based outfit.

Soumahoro has managed just 62 appearances across all competitions during his tenure with the club.
