According to reports, South African football has been rocked by yet another tragedy with news of the demise of a football boss doing the rounds

Condolences are slowly beginning to pour in following news of the demise of Tornado FC boss Siphiwo Nyobo.

According to reports circulating amongst South African media, the slain boss was allegedly gunned down outside the North End Stadium in East London after watching his watching his side in action against lower division side Birmingham FC.

Nyobo, who is a prominent businessman, as well as a traditional healer, was the owner of the Eastern Cape-based outfit and was allegedly met by gunmen, who opened fire on him as he entered his car on Saturday afternoon.

The club boss was reportedly pronounced dead on the scene, while passengers in the same car were believed to have been injured by the gunfire and rushed to a hospital.

Nyobo’s club rose to prominence in this year’s Nedbank Cup where the side from the ABC Motsepe League came face to face with South African football giants Kaizer Chiefs in the round of 32.

Amakhosi were pushed all the way right into extra-time before edging out Tornado by a solitary goal.

Nonetheless, the alleged death of Nyobo has sent shockwaves throughout the South African football fraternity and while details remain sketchy surrounding the incident, more condolences are expected to pour in.
