Rostyn Griffiths' furious spray at referee Stephen Lucas will see him sidelined for the next two A-League matches

Perth Glory captain Rostyn Griffiths has been banned for two matches for breaching Football Federation Australia's (FFA) National Code of Conduct last week.

FFA announced on Thursday that Griffiths had been found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute and failing to behave in a manner that promotes and upholds the highest standards of integrity, dignity and professionalism.

Griffiths will miss Perth's game against Melbourne Victory on Saturday plus their trip to Central Coast Mariners on January 28.

The 28-year-old was sent off in Glory's 2-2 draw at Newcastle Jets on Sunday after receiving a second yellow card.

Having been dismissed, Griffiths gave referee Stephen Lucas a spray that prompted the official to brandish the red card again.

FFA received submissions from Griffiths and Glory regarding the incident and decided to suspend the defensive midfielder for one game "as a result of the indirect red card" plus a subsequent match for his dual breaches of the FFA Code of Conduct.
