Having edged past Niger, the Nigeria U17 men's national team have received a million naira as cash gift for a 2-1 victory in the 2018 WAFU U17 Zone B tournament on Wednesday.

Prior to the match, chairman’s NFF technical committee Ahmed Fresh offered a cash reward if they avenge their 2016 African U17 Cup of Nations qualifier defeat to the Nigeriens.

Strikes from Olakunle Olusegun and Akinwunmi Amoo ensured the Golden Eaglets subdued the hosts at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché, Niamey to reach the final and claim the cash prize.

Having redeemed his promise, the NFF board member pledged to reward the team two million naira if they secure victory over Ghana in the final of the sub-regional competition.

"NFF Tech committee chairman @AhmedfreshYusuf fulfills his promise to the Eaglets, gives them a Million Naira for the win against Niger, and promises to reward them with 2Million Naira if they beat Ghana in Saturday's #AfconU17Q final.," the NFF wrote on twitter.

A victory over arch-rivals the Black Stars on Saturday will see Manu Garba’s lads emerge champions of the region and pick the sole qualification ticket to the finals in Tanzania next year.
