Pep Guardiola's men are red-hot favourites to win the tournament and face a Cottagers side who have been plagued by defensive issues so far this term

Unsurprisingly, the bookmakers make Manchester City favourites to win the first piece of domestic silverware this season.

888Sport have Pep Guardiola's side as their 7/4 (2.75) market principles in the Carabao Cup outright prices ahead of Fulham's visit to the Etihad in the fourth round.

City are just 1/16 (1.06) to win the game in normal time and set up a quarter final clash at either Leicester or Southampton.

Fulham are massive outsiders at 22/1 (23.0) with the online firm who are 10/1 (11.0) about a draw which would see a penalty shootout to decide who progresses.

The issue for punters will be finding value in what is a market already expecting a high-scoring home win - and rightly so.

Over 3.5 goals is well odds-on at 13/20 (1.65) and that's understandable given City's firepower but also the visitors' woeful defensive record.

Slavisa Jokanovic has already seen his side concede 28 times in just 10 top-flight matches, by far the worst tally of any team in the division.

The way to go here looks to be backing a home win but adding in the stipulation that both teams find the net. That's an industry-best 7/4 (2.75) with 888Sport at the time of writing.

Fulham do have plenty of attacking options and given the increasing pressure on Jokanovic, the Cottagers' boss will expect a response from his side, even with a relative mountain to climb in the tie.

Without the pressure of their increasingly poor league position, there should be a freedom about the visitors that we haven’t seen for a few weeks.

City's squad is extremely deep of course, but changes are expected and that lack of continuity in a defensive unit should allow the visitors some opportunities to make their mark.

So far this season Fulham have scored against Tottenham, Watford and Arsenal but issues at the back are likely to continue to haunt them, especially against such high-calibre opposition.

It's difficult to see past a relatively straightforward home win and while correct score plays such as 4-1 at 12/1 (13.0) are worth a small stake, the main bet should be the 7/4 (2.75) with 888Sport on City coming out on top in an open encounter at the Etihad Stadium.
