SuperSport United are currently on a 17-game unbeaten run which sees Stuart Baxter's side at the summit of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table.

Matsatsantsa have had an arduous task of competing in two competitions - PSL and Caf Confederation Cup - this year.

The club has also been forced to deal with a number of injuries to their star players throughout their campaign, but despite this they have continued to thrive.

Baxter has expressed joy at the success of his charges and believes that they are one of the favourites for the PSL title.

However, the 63-year-old English tactician has warned his players to guard against complacency.

“We have had an unbelievable season despite the injuries that we had‚" Baxter told the media.

"Expectation will be there, but I have told the players to give everything they have. We have put ourselves in a position of favourites and one of the candidates," he continued.

"The players must not let this current success go to their heads, but they must give everything that they have to the cause," Baxter stressed.

“If we do that‚ we will be able to deal with the high expectations which is growing because we were not among the favourites at the beginning of the season. We must keep our feet on the ground and continue to do the work," he indicated.

Baxter also stated that he is not worried about their local rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns, saying it is their league to lose.

Masandawana have been an unstoppable force this season and they are seen as firm favourites to defend their league title.

“I don’t worry about Sundowns because I can’t control what they are going to do in their next matches‚" Baxter said.

"I am not really interested in what they (Sundowns) do in their games. They have games in hand but those games may affect them," he expressed.

"We are top of the log‚ we are candidates with things in our hands and we can perform to the level that put us in the mix,” Baxter concluded.

Meanwhile, Baxter was named coach of the month for October/November by the PSL on Wednesday.

The former Amakhosi boss received his accolade at the club's training grounds.
