The former Socceroos boss could be set for a return to national team football

Currently impressing in the J-League with Yokohama F.Marinos, former Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou has reportedly attracted the attention of the Greece national team.

Fairfax Media claims the Hellenic Football Federation have tabled an offer to Postecoglou, who is very much considering the prospect.

He is however contracted in Japan until the end of 2019 meaning the Australian would have to seek a release from his current deal.

While Greece are currently coached by Michael Skibbe, poor results have seen his future in charge cast under some doubt with Postecoglou now emerging as a strong favourite to replace him.

Born in Athens before emigrating to Australia, the 53-year-old has previously coached in Greece when he temporarily took charge of Panachaiki and appears open to a return to national team football after his highly publicised Socceroos exit.

Any potential deal would however have to wait until the end of the current J-League season with Yokohama currently 10th and set to play in the J-League Cup final later this month.

After missing out on qualification for the 2018 World Cup, Greece now have their sights set on sealing their place at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
