The Promise Keepers’ striker has spoken of his excitement after he hit the target on his return from a layoff

Akwa United’s Christian Pyagbara expresses delight after he scored a goal to mark his return against Gombe United on Sunday.

Pyagbara had missed his team’s last two matches due to injury. But came on in the 51st minute in place of Hassan Babangida - also returning from the sidelines - in their 3-0 defeat of the Savannah Scorpions.

With seven minutes left to play, the former Enyimba striker sealed victory for Abdu Maikaba’s side with the third goal of the game.

"It was fun returning to the team. I was extremely happy when I got the goal, my fourth goal of the season because I missed our last two matches and when I was called on in the second half I was determined to return to the pitch with a bang,” Pyagbara told Goal.

"The three points is very important to our aspiration and we shall be going to Umuahia full of hope that we can gain fresh maximum points to brighten our chances of winning the league title.

“I am happy to return with a bang and this goal will no doubt further help me to go to the next game with the right mentality that I could still do more to help my team. No game will be easy till the end of the season but we are going to do our best to ensure that we pick as many points as possible.”
