10:12 WAT 19/01/2017
All the stats and numbers you need as Lions of Teranga prepare to take on The Warriors in Franceville.

Our good friends at Opta have complied all the numbers and stats you need to assess the teams’ chances ahead of today’s Afcon Group B clash at Stade de Franceville.

- Senegal are making their 14th appearance at the African Cup of Nations - a record for a team that has never won the trophy.

- The closest Senegal came to winning the AFCON was in 2002. They lost the final on penalties against Cameroon.

-Meanwhile, this is Zimbabwe’s third AFCON participation after 2004 and 2006. They failed to reach the knockout stages, finishing bottom of their group on both occasions and winning only two of their six games (L4).

-The only previous AFCON encounter between Senegal and Zimbabwe saw the former win 2-0 in the 2006 group stages.

-Senegal boss Aliou Cissé is taking charge of his first AFCON as manager. He was Senegal’s captain when they reached their only AFCON final to date, in 2002.

- Meanwhile, this is also Zimbabwean Callisto Pasuwa’s first AFCON as manager.

-Senegal come into this game on the back of their first AFCON clean sheet in 15 outings whilst Zimbabwe are currently enjoying a two-game unbeaten run in the tournament (W1 D1); their longest such run ever in the AFCON.

- Senegal registered just two shots on target in their match against Tunisia; they scored with both of them (2-0 win).

- Only two of the last eight AFCON goals recorded by Senegal have come from open play.

- Sadio Mané comes into this match having scored in three of his last six international appearances for Senegal; he could go three overall appearances in succession with a goal if he scores in this match (including Liverpool).
