Juventus defender Medhi Benatia is pleased with Juventus’ 2-0 victory over AC Milan as they maintain their best ever Serie A start.

The Italian champions bounced back from their Uefa Champions League loss to Manchester United on Wednesday with goals from Mario Mandzukic and Cristiano Ronaldo in each half of the encounter doing the damage to the Rossoneri.

Sunday's result extended the Old Lady's dominance at the summit of the Italian top-flight table to 34 points from 12 matches and Benatia who was in action for the entire 90 minutes is happy with the team’s display after midweek’s disappointment at the Allianz Stadium.

“I’m glad about the performance and the win,” Benatia told club website.

“It was important for us to bounce back after the Manchester United match. We wanted to put in a good performance and we did that tonight. Playing against Higuain, a good friend of mine, was an added incentive.”

The Morocco international who has expressed frustration over his lack of playing time in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad this season replaced Leonardo Bonucci in the starting XI for his fifth league appearance.

And he is excited about his involvement in the encounter amid criticism about his performance in big games.

“It was nice to be part of such a prestigious fixture. Yesterday I was getting a massage with Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Daniele] Rugani and I saw it being said on TV that I often mess up in big games, so I wanted to show that I can be relied upon,” he added.
