The Potters forward admitted that he was struggling to sprint and jump against Sweden and so will miss the game against the Red Devils

Martin O'Neill has confirmed that Jonathan Walters will miss the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 clash with Belgium.

The Stoke City striker featured in Ireland's 1-1 Group E opener against Sweden, but a complication with his Achilles tendon means that he will play no part against Marc Wilmots' side.

"Jonathan Walters is not going to be fit, so we will have to make at least one change," O'Neill told reporters in Bordeaux ahead of Saturday's game.

Walters was replaced by James McClean at the Stade de France on Monday and admitted after the game that he was finding it difficult to run.

"I was struggling to sprint and jump," said the 32-year-old. "I got through the first half and a couple of runs in the second half but it (Achilles) just tightened right up."

The Boys in Green face Belgian at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux on Saturday, June 18.
