The defender is aware of the expectations awaiting him by the teeming supporters in Kumasi but says he is not perturbed

Asante Kotoko defender Wahab Adams insists he has no concerns about the huge expectations by the supporters ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.

The centre-back joined Steve Polack's side from Aduana Stars last month in a two-year deal as a free agent and is expected to hit the ground running following the departure of Awal Mohammed and Ahmed Adams.

The 26-year-old affirmed that there is pressure on him to succeed but has pleaded with the fans to throw their support behind him.

“I wanted a change of environment and Asante Kotoko is the club I support. It’s a dream come true for me. Although, there is pressure playing for Aduana Stars but the pressure at Kotoko is bigger is incomparable,” Wahab said.

“In Ghana, half of the population supports Asante Kotoko but I don’t fear pressure. The supporters should be patient with us. We just joined the club and some have also left. We will do our best to help the club and put smiles on the faces of the fans,” he added.

Wahab is expected to play his debut game against Techiman Eleven Wonders in the Ghalca G8 tournament at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
