Nelo Vingada will use the next 6 weeks to find the right players for Malayan Tigers ahead of the next Asian Cup qualifiers

After the match against Lebanon, Nelo Vingada came under heavy criticism in light of a 1-2 defeat in Malaysia's opening Asian Cup qualifiers in the middle of May. Being his first match since taking over the position, some of the conclusion made on him were over the top as well as judgement handed out too early.

The position of a national team head coach is a tough one as the players comes from different teams and do not have the luxury of understanding each other's game as they would have at the club level. To see a marked improvement after just a week of full training with a full squad is an unjust demand on Vingada.

"I'm more clear about the abilities of each players after a month of leading the team. I know what the vision is and what is needed to improve the team."

"I can guarantee that the national team will be better in the coming months as compared to the past match against Lebanon," said Vingada to the press during Raya celebration at the house of Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Secretary-General, Datuk Hamidin Amin.

Vingada is aware that he will need to make the teams his own and with the upcoming pack domestic schedule from 1 July until the middle of August - the Portuguese will have plenty of matches to see which players that will suit to his needs.

"For the time being, I'm making preparations for the Hong Kong match in September. By August, I should be able to gather the players that I want."

"We will have two friendly matches in August to build the understanding between the players," added Vingada.

This news should also be motivation for the players to show their worth in the upcoming matches in the Super League, Premier League as well as the Malaysia Cup - in hope that they would do enough to pique the interest to Vingada.

How big or how many changes to the squad is an enticing prospect and all will be revealed when the next set of call-up list is released.
