Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has urged the government to help clear the players' allowances before they face Ethiopia on Sunday.

The players have not been paid allowances owing to tough financial times currently facing the Kenyan federation and Wanyama has now requested the government to move in and help clear the pending allowances.

“The players are doing everything to ensure the team qualifies for the Afcon. But despite all, their allowances have not been paid. I request the government to help us and settle them, and by doing that they will have motivated the players ahead of the match.

“We want to get maximum points on Sunday, although we know it will be a tough match. We are about to qualify for the finals and our focus should be on Ethiopia.”

Kenya are top of Group F with four points, same as Ethiopia while Ghana and banned Sierra Leone are third and fourth, with three points each.
