Ulinzi Stars new signing Elijah Mwanzia has vowed to fight for his place in the starting squad.

Mwanzia made his debut for the Soldiers in a shocking style in a defeat to league leaders Gor Mahia.

Mwanzia, who signed for the Nakuru Soldiers from Mathare United,  had a good ending to the 2017 season with the ‘Slum Boys’, scoring a number of crucial goals that aided in the team’s survival and he is hoping that rubs in at Ulinzi Stars.

“I did not struggle to settle in, despite the fact that I had to move to a different town and I was used to Nairobi.

“I left Mathare because I wanted more play time and here the coach has promised me that so I just want to repay the faith. I know I have to fight for my place and I am ready for it,” Mwanzia told Ulinzi Stars website.

Mwanzia joined an Ulinzi Stars side that is going through a rough patch, which has seen the side drop to seventh on the log.

“Ulinzi is a big team and we deserve to be higher on the log, at least in third place and as players we know we are in a big team and we have to do more to improve on the recent results,” he added.
