Kizito Luwagga has warned Uganda not to peg their hopes on history when they take on Tanzania in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.

Uganda Cranes will host Taifa Stars at the Mandela Stadium in Namboole.

Sebastien Desabre’s men will walk onto the pitch with one foot ahead; having won their opening game against Cape Verde, whom they beat 1-0.

Historically speaking, Uganda are yet to lose to rivals Tanzania in 23 years, but the creative midfielder, who turns out for Bat Borisov in Belarus, says that is just but history.

“We might see them (Tanzania) like a weak team, but it’s an East African derby. It’s not an easy game,” Luwagga told Daily Monitor.

Ugandan will be looking forward to returning to the continental stage having graced the finals last edition. The 2019 Afcon edition to be held in Cameroon, will attract 24 teams.

Cranes and Taifa Stars neighbours, Harambee Stars (Kenya) will host Ghana at the Kasarani Stadium in a Group F match also on Saturday.
