Ghana assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko is refusing to give up on his side's 2018 World Cup hopes despite a poor start to the qualifiers.
The Black Stars have been able to pick only a point from their opening two games following a stalemate with Uganda in Tamale and a 2-0 defeat to Egypt in Alexandria.
The 39-year-old was named as the first deputy coach to Kwesi Appiah, who was handed a two-year contract and presented to the media this week.
“I'm happy to be recognised by the Ghana Football Association and also for the appointment to work under Kwesi Appiah," Tanko told Nhyira FM.
"We will try our best to qualify Ghana to the 2018 Fifa World Cup which will be hosted by Russia. Although, Ghana have failed to win any game after two matches and sit five points behind Egypt, the ambition to qualify is still achievable.
"All that we would have to do is to organise ourselves well and win our remaining four matches in the group. This is the only way to make it from the group and also win back the heart of Ghanaians,” he added.
Ghana will lock horns with Congo in Kumasi on August 27, four days before the return leg in Brazzaville.
