Following Salisu Yusuf's men lackluster performance against Amavubi, the defender has blamed it on ill-luck

Nigeria defender Daniel Itodo says his side were unfortunate not to pick the maximum points after playing a 0-0 draw against Rwanda in their CHAN opener on Monday.

Salisu Yusuf's men dominated the contest in both halves, but were denied thrice by the crossbar against a hardfighting Amavubi at the Grand Stade de Tangier.

"It was a match to win for us. Many chances we had were only hitting the crossbar. We are not happy that we could not get a victory from the match after all the efforts we made to score.

"We have accepted it as one of those things that happen in football. We know everyone expected a lot from us but we will remain focused and determined as a team to win the next game against Libya.

"I know it will not be easy but I believe we can make things right. I'm assuring Nigerians that we will do everything possible to win against Liyba by God's grace."
