Daniel Sturridge scored the 100th club goal of his career when putting Liverpool ahead against Huddersfield at Anfield.

The England international struck five minutes after half-time of Saturday’s Premier League clash when he capitalised on a mistake from Huddersfield’s Tommy Smith before finishing calmly.

It was Sturridge’s 62nd goal for Liverpool since his £12 million move to Merseyside from Chelsea in January 2013 and it was his second effort of the season after he had also netted in the 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal in August.

Sturridge’s first career club goal came for Manchester City in January 2008 when he scored in an FA Cup defeat away to Sheffield United.

He has also scored for Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers, where he was on loan, during a career which has been dogged by fitness and injury troubles.

The 28-year-old will be hoping that his goal against Huddersfield will serve as a reminder of his prowess to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
