Selangor head coach Nazliazmi Nasir has praised his young squad following their 2-0 win over Terengganu FC in the last round of the Malaysia Super League (MSL) match.

In the match that was held at the KLFA Stadium on Sunday, the hosts were made to wait until the 72nd minute to open the scoring through Syahmi Safari's goal, before Rufino Segovia sealed the win, and his MSL top-scorer win, by scoring in the 89th minute.

The result kept the Red Giants in the eighth place for a slot in Pot 2 of the Malaysia Cup draw, whereas for the Turtles they were denied the chance to finish their league campaign in second place.

Speaking in the post-match presser, Nazliazmi praised his side's performance in the match.

"Praise Allah, we finished the league campaign in style. My team played well with the help of ample tactical planning and quality gameplay which was finished with two beautiful goals, and now the momentum is with us ahead of the Malaysia Cup.

"The boys have picked up a lot of experience in the campaign, especially the younger ones. Congratulations as well to Rufo (Rufino) for his golden boot feat," he said.

When asked about the chances of his younger players to take over first eleven roles beginning in the cup competition, he responded positively.

"I don't want to get ahead of myself, but there is a good possibility that it will happen in the cup. But we are also likely to lose the services of Syahmi, Ilham (Udin Armaiyn) and Evan (Dimas Darmono), who will probably take part in the coming Asian Games. If they are selected, they will be absent for one or two cup matches.

"However, that leaves the room for the other players to show what they can do, and I believe that their confidence and motivation levels are high following tonight's win," noted the former youth coach.

On the following day, Nazliazmi's charges were drawn in Group D of the competition, alongside Premier League side Sabah and MSL clubs Pahang and PKNP FC.
