The Premier Soccer League (PSL) action continued on Saturday with Lamontville Golden Arrows hosting Highlands Park at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium, in Clermont.

Abafana Bes’thende were looking for a win and the team was in high spirits as they were coming off a win in their Nedbank Cup Last 32 match against Tjakastad FC.

The hosts opened the scoring when  Danny Venter scored in the 24th minute and Arrows went to the half-time break leading 1-0.

Lerato Lamola doubled the hosts' lead in the 74th minute and Raymond Rae netted Highlands' consolation goal with 14 minutes left. Arrows managed to protect their lead and they walked away with a 2-1 victory.

The win elevated Arrows to ninth spot with 24 points from 19 league matches, while Highlands remain 10th on the table with 22 points from 19 games.

In the second match of the day, Free State Stars were set to meet Polokwane City at the Goble Park Stadium, but the game was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.

The highly anticipated encounter could not go ahead as planned because of a waterlogged surface due to rainy weather.

Stars suffered a shocking defeat to National First Division (NFD) outfit Richards Bay FC in the Nedbank Cup last weekend and they were aiming to win at home.

Polokwane, who are coached by Jozef Vukusic, were hoping to return to winning ways after losing to NFD club Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in the Nedbank Cup.
