Sam Nyamweya hails new KPL sponsorship deal

Immediate former Football Kenya Federation chairman Sam Nyamweya says the domestic league is poised for great heights after Kenyan Premier League penned a new deal with a title sponsor.

KPL signed a three-year deal worth over Sh200 million with SportPesa, barely four months after the gaming firm opted out of the league.

The deal also included AFC Leopards, FKF and Gor Mahia, a gesture, Nyamweya says, could not have come at a better time when K’Ogalo has qualified to the group stages of the Caf Confederation Cup.

“Their return will be an open boost to the two clubs and to the Kenyan Premier League which was facing a bleak future since the start of the year.

“With the sponsorship, Gor Mahia can now focus on representing the country well in the continental championships."

Nyamweya also challenged other corporates to come on board and sponsor football so that the game can grow.
