Salomon Kalou’s brace propels Hertha Berlin past Hannover 96

Salomon Kalou scored two goals as Hertha Berlin cruised to a 3-1 triumph over Hannover 96 in Wednesday’s German Bundesliga tie.

The Cote d’Ivoire international returned to the starting line for the 11th time this season after coming off the bench on Sunday against Augsburg to rescue a point for Pal Dardai’s men.

Kalou opened the scoring at the Olympiastadion as he calmly tapped in Peter Pekarik’s cross in the 18th minute.

The former Chelsea forward doubled Hertha's lead for the night with a goal in added time that extended his tally to six goals in 13 league games this campaign.

After the restart, Ilhas Bebou scored a consolation goal for the Reds in the 65th minute as Jonathan Torunarigha put the icing on the cake for the Old Lady with seven minutes left to play for in the encounter.

Hertha Berlin climbed to the 11th spot in the Bundesliga standings with 21 points from 16 games and will take on RB Leipzig for their next league outing on Sunday.
