The Young Matildas have claimed a comprehensive 11-1 win over Nepal to kick off their second round of qualifying for the 2019 AFC U-19 Women's Championship.

Talented young attacker Mary Fowler scored five of Australia's 11 goals and claimed her hat-trick after just 15 minutes in Myanmar.

Fowler, still just 16, has already featured for the senior Matildas side multiple times and even turned down a call-up last year as she opted to instead train with a former sprint coach of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Cairns-born footballer has quickly been compared to Sam Kerr with former Matildas coach Alen Stajcic singing Fowler's praises last year.

"She's probably got the most amount of weapons I've seen from a young player her age in women's football," Stajcic told AAP in 2018.

"Even just listening to the lament of the Socceroos about our lack of a striker and finishing ability in Australian football, Mary is one of those people who we can hopefully hang our hat on down the track as she develops as a player.

"She's certainly got that instinct for goal, it's really profound.

"Certainly she's got the foundations to be a good and effective striker for us down the track."

Having featured for the Matildas against the USA recently, Fowler is determined to use her games with the Young Matildas as a way to seal her spot in Australia's squad for the World Cup.

"It's an important tournament to show I am a goal scorer," Fowler said.

"Last time I went into a Young Matildas camp I came out golden boot and that's exactly what I plan on doing this time."
