In what will be yet another feather in their cap, Reliance Foundation has been awarded the Rashtriya Khel Protsahana Purushkar by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind at a function in New Delhi. Mrs Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, was present to collect the award which comes under the 'Sports for Development' category.

The Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs awards the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar in order to encourage the involvement of corporates and sports promotion boards in the development of sports in the country. 

The Reliance Foundation has helped forge an interest towards sports among the youth of the country. Formed in 2010, it has enabled the youth to take up leadership roles in the community to become mentors to the rural kids in our country.

The Foundation uses the vehicle of sports in the rural regions to promote education and leadership. It has also helped in bringing people together from the rural areas for sports.

Their work in promoting football in the country has seen Mrs.Ambani-led Reliance Foundation win the award in the 'Sports for Development' category.

Others who recieved the Rashtriya Khel Protsahana Purushkar this year are Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) for 'Identification and Nurturing of Budding and Young Talent', Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) for 'Encouraging sports through corporate social responsibility' and The Golf Foundation in the 'Sports for Development' category.
