Gor Mahia might draw strength from Rayon Sports misfortunes ahead of the Caf Confederation Cup final Group D clash next week.
The Rwandan side will face record Tanzania champions Young Africans without two of their key players. Rayon will be minus Thierry Manzi and Olivier Niyonzima when they host Yanga in a must-win clash in Kigali.
Gor Mahia also needs a win against USM Alger to book a place in the quarter-final and Dylan Kerr will be happy at a draw away in Algeria if Yanga will take full advantage of Rayon’s miseries to hold the hosts.
The duo has been ruled out of the Wednesday’s action after they both accumulated two yellow cards in the last two games. Manzi and Niyonzima were booked in Rayon Sport’s 2-1 stunning victory over Kenyan champions Gor Mahia in Nairobi.
They now join a long list of Rayon Sports players who are not eligible for the crucial tie against regional powerhouse Young Africans on Wednesday next week.
The other ineligible players for Young Africans clash include; goalie Kassim Ndayisenga, midfielder Yannick Mukunzi and striker Christi Mbondi, who were slapped with a three-game ban by the Caf for gross misconduct during the game against USM Alger earlier this month in Algiers.
Gor Mahia are top of the group with eight points, same as USM Alger while Rayon Sports are third with six points. Young Africans are at the bottom of the group with four points
