Ramson Madu explains Heartland mission against Akwa United in Uyo

The Naze Millionaires' tactician has stated that they won’t be playing second fiddle to the Promise Keepers during the return leg in Uyo

Heartland Ramson Madu has revealed that the Naze Millionaires have put their agonizing home loss to Akwa United behind them and are now concentrating on the reverse fixture in Uyo on Sunday.

Goals from the Promise Keepers’ duo of Ndifreke Effiong and Mfon Udoh reduced the Naze Millionaires’ Chidiebere Ajoku’s strike to a mere consolation goal and while Akwa United moved to the second spot with 19 points from 11 games Heartland slid to seventh with 14 points from the same number of matches.

Madu while reacting to the painful home loss disclosed that what is important for them at this point is to forget about the defeat in front of their fans and pay attention to inflicting a home defeat on Akwa United when they visit the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo this weekend.

“It was unfortunate that we lost at home to Akwa United because the players gave all that they could give to ensure that we beat them but there is nothing we can do about that for now,” Madu told Goal.

“We have started training almost immediately and our effort is geared towards ensuring that we pay them back when we travel to Uyo for the Sunday game. Our task won’t be an easy one but we must go with confidence that we can repeat what they did to us in front of their fans too. The game won’t be easy but we will be up for it.

“It is still unclear why we have not been able to win a game in our last three home matches. We have tried our best in those matches and deserve to win them but we can’t pay attention to situations we don’t have control over. We must go to Uyo with the belief that we have what it takes to beat them there.”
