Oscar Igaida: AFC Leopards will release eleven and sign five new players

AFC Leopards will drop eleven players and sign five ahead of the new season.

With the 2018 season coming to a close on Sunday, Ingwe officials have already set up a plan to prepare for the 2019 season.

Club Secretary Oscar Igaida has confirmed to Goal that the team will axe eleven players, sign five and also trim the squad from 31 to 25 players. “We will have to restructure for next season and this will start from the squad. We want to trim the squad from 31 to 25 players for next season.

“We will also part ways with a total of eleven players and sign five new ones. This is part of the report as recommended by coach Rodolfo Zapata, who left the club last week. We will follow his report and use it for the coming season.”

Igaida added, “We will renew some of the players’ contracts while there are those we will not renew. Those are the players that will be shown the door and will be allowed to speak to other clubs for a possible transfer.”

AFC Leopards struggled this season as they failed to win a trophy. Ingwe will face Nzoia Sugar in their final match of the season on Sunday.
