Ogenyi Onazi and new signing Anthony Nwakaeme, on his full debut, were the stars of the show as Trabzonspor handed a 4-0 defeat to Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray on Saturday.

The visitors had yet to drop points in the ongoing season, collecting all nine points from their opening three encounters in the league.

And they were on a nine-game winning run in the league, with their last loss coming against Gençlerbirliği on April 4, but all that was set to be halted as early as the third minute with Onazi grabbing the curtain raiser.

In the 25th minute, Nwakaeme soon got in on the act with his first goal in Turkish football to double his side’s lead.

Things soon got worse for the Fatih Terim’s men as they were reduced to ten men with Morocco attacking midfielder Younes Belhanda sent for an early shower, and just before halftime, Nwakaeme punished them with his second.

The former Hapoel Beer Sheva forward then turned provided as Caleb Ekuban rounded off scoring deep in stoppage time.

It was a very different outing for Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru who is yet to suffer a competitive loss with the Turkish champion. The former Eupen wideman saw 81 minutes of action before making way for Algeria livewire Sofiane Feghouli.

Onazi played 74 minutes for the victors while two-goal hero Nwakaeme saw out the entire duration of the encounter in his second appearance for the Trabzon outfit.

After the international break, Trabzonspor tackle Alanyaspor while Galatasaray, still sitting atop the log, will hope to get back to winning against Kasımpaşa.
