Enugu Rangers skipper, Okey Odita has stated that the Flying Antelopes showed the willingness and the desire to advance to the next round of the Caf Confederation Cup better than Defence force of Ethiopia in both legs of the preliminary round.
Rangers qualified for the first round of Africa’s second-tier club competition 5-1 on aggregate and 3-1 in the return leg in Addis Ababa despite conceding the first goal immediately after the kickoff but Odita in his own assessment of the game opined that they showed the right mentality to dump the Ethiopian side out of the continent.
“It was a good game and we thank God for the victory,” Odita told media.
“We played against a good side but we showed experience that took us above them. We were more aggressive and showed the willingness to win. We hope to go far in the competition.”
Rangers have set up an explosive first-round encounter with USM Del Abbes of Algeria by virtue of their victory with the first leg coming up in Algiers on the weekend of December 14-16 while the return leg holds in Enugu a week later.
