Ogunbote’s tactics will help Enugu Rangers defeat Kano Pillars - Kelvin Itoya

Kelvin Itoya believes the game plan of Gbenga Ogunbote will be a huge bargain for Enugu Rangers when they face Kano Pillars at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Wednesday.

In their quest to claim their first Federation Cup title after 35 years, the Flying Antelopes crawled back from two goals down to subdue Nasarawa United 4-2 in the semi-final.

Following a stunning comeback, the forward extolled Ogunbote’s role in the team's incredible journey to the final and also revealed their mission against Ibrahim Musa’s side.

“It is a very special moment in my career playing in the final of the Federation Cup,” Itoya told Goal.

“Looking back to how we got to this stage, I think was magical and only God can perform such magic, especially when we have to come from two goals down to beat Nasarawa United.

“We knew we have come this far and can't imagine that we were going to be stopped now. We had to give it all. God is indeed great. We are in the final now and I believe there is nothing impossible with God.

“After our semi-final win, I now understood why Ogunbote is called "the oracle". He has the magic wand from God above. He is like a father and son or player will want to die for on the pitch.

“I looked at his eyes when I was about to come in as a substitute against Nasarawa and I understood what he wanted from me, even though he didn't need to say a word. I believe so much in him and confident his tactics will help us win the title.”

The former Warri Wolves striker is wary of the quality of Kano Pillars, but he is confident his side’s determination and never say die spirit will power them to glory.

“Kano Pillars are a good side. They will not come this far to be pushovers in the final. But we must just be at our best on Wednesday and show the world our never say die attitude according to our motto. It was just the mindset and the determination,” he continued.

“Our coach Ogunbote has identified their weakness and will give us the necessary instruction to see us win. I think that this is our year and hoping God will crown our efforts with a resounding victory in Asaba.”
