Former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has decided to relinquish his roles as Fifa Council member, Caf vice president and Wafu Zone B president with immediate effect, according to Goal's sources.

Last week, Nyantakyi was handed a 90-day suspension by the world's football governing body in the wake of corruption allegations that stemmed from a documentary premiered in Ghana on June 6 and 7.

Nyantakyi, who became Fifa council member in 2016, was expected to travel to Russia this week ahead of the organisation’s general assembly on the sidelines of the World Cup, but

the ban prevented him from traveling.

Instead, Ashanti Regional FA chairman Osei Tutu Agyemang will be Ghana’s only representative at the gathering, after the authorities reportedly cancelled flight arrangements for former general secretary Isaac Addo and former executive committee member Wilfred Osei Kwaku.

Ghana is expected to vote for fellow African country Morocco which is bidding to host the 2026 World Cup.
