Neymar to Real Madrid? La Liga chief wants former Barcelona star back in Spain

Neymar’s proposed move to Real Madrid has been backed by Javier Tebas, with the Liga president eager to see the former Barcelona star back in Spain.

Less than six months on from a record-breaking €222 million move from Camp Nou to Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazil international is already being linked with another big-money transfer.

PSG maintain that they have no intention of selling, while Neymar claims to be happy in France, but that has done little to quash the speculation suggesting that the 25-year-old will soon be a ‘Galactico’ recruit in Madrid.

Tebas hopes a deal will be done, with the LFP supremo eager to ensure that the Spanish top-flight boasts the finest talent in world football within its ranks.

He told reporters at the Sports Press Awards: "I would like Neymar to return to Spanish football, yes.

"The team doesn't have to be the same, but here [in Spain] we have to be the best and Neymar is it."

Neymar spent four seasons with Barcelona prior to his departure in the summer of 2017.

During his time in Catalunya, he netted 105 times in 186 appearances – as he formed part of a fearsome ‘MSN’ attacking unit alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The goals have continued to flow at PSG, with 26 efforts recorded in just 24 outings to date.

It is that ability, and a billing as a future Ballon d’Or winner, which makes the South American so appealing to Real and La Liga.

While Tebas is eager to seal a reunion sooner rather than later, he has plenty of other issues to address before then.

In 2018-19, La Liga will become the latest division to implement VAR, with technology being embraced despite some serious questions remaining.

"Next season there will be VAR," said Tebas.

"We are doing our best and we will ensure it arrives on time.

"With the VAR, some moments in the Barcelona and Alaves game, for example, would've changed."
