Nasiru elated after maiden Ghana call-up

Hacken BK midfielder Nasiru Mohammed has expressed his happiness following his maiden senior national team call-up by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.

The 24-year-old was named in a 26-man squad released on Tuesday to face Egypt in the final World Cup qualifying game on November 12 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, as Ghana hope to build a formidable team for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Ghana U17 captain has been in a scintillating form in the Swedish Allsvenskan, netting eight goals in 24 appearances this season, with his side sitting fifth on the log with 49 points.

"Let me thank Allah for granting me this opportunity to play for my country. This is a dream come true," Nasiru told Kickgh.

"It is the dream of every player to play for his national team at the highest level and I can't explain how happy I am after officially knowing I'm part of the squad," he said.

"I will strive to do my best for the team when I am given the chance to play against Egypt," he added.

Egypt have already picked the sole ticket to the World Cup after opening a four-point gap at the top of the group.
